A brief history
Rachel O'Rourke and Danny Ostrov met salsa dancing and fell in love over chocolate malts at Margie's Soda Fountain in Chicago. Rachel and Danny soon moved to Portland, Oregon, got married and together discovered a passion for estate sale hunting and collecting rare unique jewelry. Danny bought Rachel a drill press for her birthday several years later and she began to experiment with vintage plastics by creating modern works of wearable art. Portlanders ravenously collected her designs, and what began as a form of self-_expression soon emerged as Lucky LooLoo.
People will stop you in the street when you wear Lucky LooLoo necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, hair accessories and belt buckles. Sophisticated and edgy, Lucky LooLoo designs are influenced by art deco architecture, modernist sculpture, vintage anatomical drawings, old school punk rock and 40's starlet elegance. Rachel continues to use real vintage jewelry elements in her updated Modern Pop Deco designs. The line includes carved Resin, Lucite, Sterling Silver and Brass.
Lucky LooLoo's distinctive designs are a favorite of editors and stylists. They are featured in Daily Candy, Cosmo Girl, BUST, Venus, Teen, Budget Living and Alternative Press. All of Lucky LooLoo jewelry is made in the U.S.A.
Lucky LooLoo Designs are sold in boutiques, museums, galleries, clothing stores and gift shops throughout North America, Europe, New Zealand and in Japan.
Rachel O’Rourke, Lucky LooLoo’s Chief Designer received her Masters from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her husband, Danny Ostrov, Lucky LooLoo’s Chief of Marketing and Business Development, received his Master’s from the University of Illinois. The creative team also includes Eli O'Rourke Ostrov, born April 18th 2006. He brings with him a vast experience in team building, squeeling and giving kisses.
